SUGGESTIONS FOR USE OF THE CARDS
The cards are proportioned so that the proper amount of notes and rests will loosely fill the measure.
Example: four quarter notes will fill the space, but three quarter notes and a half note would extend beyond the box. Four quarter notes and one eighth note would not be sufficient to fill the space inside the box.
1. The teacher plays or sings a rhythm pattern and the student chooses note and rest values
that correspond to "fill the measure".
2. The student fills the measure with notes and rests, then counts and claps the rhythm.
Several measures can be shown by filling the measure and transferring the group of cards from the measure to the table. Leave space between the measures on the table.
3. The student or the teacher reproduces the melody line of a song which the student is going to learn. The teacher sings the melody and points to the notes as the student counts and claps the rhythm.
Non-profit reproduction of the cards is permitted.
