Here's a fun way to learn to count the note values.
"Fudge" will represent the quarter note.
A half note will be "Fu-udge"
A whole note, "Fu-u-u-udge"

"Taffy" will represent two eighth notes
"Gingerbread man" will help us if we have sixteenth notes.
"Gingerbread" will show a triplet pattern.

Let's try it on "Are You Sleeping"
Fudge, fudge, fudge, fudge,
Fudge, fudge, fudge, fudge,
Fudge, fudge, fu-udge,
Fudge, fudge, fu-udge,
Taffy, taffy, fudge, fudge,
Taffy, taffy, fudge, fudge,
Fudge, fudge, fu-udge,
Fudge, fudge, fu-udge,
After you get the feel of the rhythm, then count 1,2,3,4.
