Fifth grade teachers read " Twas the Night Before Christmas " to the students, then asked them to write a poem " Twas the Night Before Thanksgiving " from the turkey's viewpoint. The pictures of the turkeys are their own creations as well as the poems. Delightful!

When filled with the pepper, turkey started itching.
As the cook was cooking that turkey so grand,
The chicken was practicing with his fine rock band.
The turkey is "bouncing", the table is "hopping",
The house is filled with lots of rocking.
As the people were feasting on that turkey so grand,
Listening to that merrily rock band.

The bread was being taken.
I think I saw Dad who was cooking the bacon.
I helped my dad with that cooking
And then I yelled to the kids, "Come a looking!"
Once they were finished with me that day,
The put cranberries and apples where I once lay.
The family left so plump in their belly,
And reclined in their chair and watched the "telly".
